Working on David’s site was awful.
See, David is a Paris-based chef who was named one of the “Top Five Pastry Chefs in the Bay Area” by the San Francisco Chronicle, and he’s received critical acclaim in such publications as Bon Appétit, Chocolatier, Cooking Light, Food+Wine, Gourmet, Condé Nast Traveler, Cook’s Illustrated, the Los Angeles Times, Newsweek, The New York Times, People, Saveur, Sunset and USA Today. David has appeared on both local and national television programs on PBS, the Discovery Channel, the Travel Channel, and NBC’s Today Show.
In short, David makes wonderfully delicious desserts. And David takes gorgeous photos of those delicious desserts. Delicious desserts that we, in turn, had to stare at throughout the entirety of this site redesign without so much as a taste. How awful!
Working with David, on the other hand, was an absolute pleasure. We had the privilege of helping him create a personal brand. We also took his old, cluttered Movable Type setup, streamlined it and made it far easier for David to update his blog, rearrange his content, add pages and essentially just control his site.
In addition to cleaning up the back and front ends of his site, we also spent time training him in Movable Type so that he no longer needed to depend on his old web designer to make changes to his site.
