Crossfire Cafe 15 July 2006

Steve Rahn, youth pastor of Bible Baptist Church in Fayetville, North Carolina realized the importance of reaching his teens on a level they were comfortable with... the internet.

So he approached us to develop a site that would allow teens to get together in an online "church community", a place that brought together photos, events and articles, a place where discussion could thrive.

Using some hardcore CSS, we created a distinct visual feel for the site, then propigated that look across the Movable Type sections and the phpBB install.

We also came up with some clever strategies to accomplish specific goals. Kevin Shay's RightFields plugin for Movable Type allowed for a "click-and-upload" photo section, while Brad Choate's MTEmbedImage handled all the backend thumbnail creation. The piece de resistance was a Flash slideshow, completely automated via Movable Type. The process from MT to SlideShowPro was completely seamless as MT generates all the thumbnails and the XML files that are then fed to Flash. Even the slideshow was linked to photo archives where visitors could comment!
